A Cork in Cork

2.15.14 Yesterday we left for our cork trip. We had to be there at 815 AM. That meant getting up at 705...ugh. Well, getting out of bed at 730. Anyway, Karolina messaged me and was like make sure you’re not late because they will leave without us. So, I got there at like 750 to her apt and texted her and she didn’t get it and I waited for like 10 minutes. So much for that. Well, we went to the bus where we waited for some girl for an hour for and at 900ish we decided we should leave without her and then here she can and we were off in the rain, driving. I couldn’t see much but I talked to john about my internships I’m nervous about and how I’m not sure what I should do. Then, tried to take a nap. No one realized to come to the back so I sat in the middle of the 5 seats...I had all 5 seats to myself and most of the front was occupado. I literally lay down like a bed. The first stop was for lunchish. I got a fruit salad and they had unwrapped bananas and apples so I took one and put them in my pocket, I don’t think they were meant to be sold and didn’t know what to eat unless I wants a sandwich or crepe or bacon. I was basically screwed. Our next rest stop was at a castle. It was the most still together in Europe I think. That’s a bad way to say it but I can’t remember the exact phrase. Anyways, there was not much to see but we watched a lame video I almost fell asleep through. And, surprisingly, they had working toilets in the castle. Hah. Back on the bus to the blarney castle. Once we got here, we walked together to get our tickets etc. etc. I talked to Leigh a little about our spring break trip. It started raining so I broke out the emergency rain poncho. I already got a compliment on it. What what. We continued and got to the blarney castle part where we had to walk up to the top. These stairs were so steep and ad in a circle. Just up and up till you hit air. Then it was pretty pretty. We were all in a line waiting and Karolina's and john were more behind but I hate waiting. I took my picture while kissing the blarney stone, which is supposed to be like lucky or something what you do is lie on you back stretch and kiss the brick wall. While I did that, my favorite purple headband fell off to the ground. It was actually kind of funny because it’s almost like a horror story, that something would fall that far. Well, turns out, it’s easy to grab. Once you kiss it, you're supposed to head down I, didn’t. I jumped the not so gated chain and met up with Karolina and john to try the blarney stone again and get some pics just in case. Now, we actually headed down. We were walking and talking and the entire farm looking thing was all misty like a scary movie. It was like the botanical gardens. I was over it quite fast, though because the one in Chicago is so much better. Now, I wanted to check out the biggest wool store in Ireland which was not that big, I wanted to get some wool stuff, but it was either really expensive or pretty lame. I went so interested, so I went to Supervalu to get some tuna and bananas. We came back to eat at the blarney cafe. I had 3 cans of tuna, perhaps not something to eat before going on to a bus. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were split into rooms of 14, 16, and 18. That’s kind of a lot. Me, john, and Karolina had like a little side off of 4 and only took up 3 spots. Our own little nook. We set all of our stuff down and decided to go exploring in the city. I was excited about this but when I explore, I do it the Sher way. When I explore with other people, they do it a different way. Like Karolina was into taking pictures everywhere and I definitely joined in, but once she saw what she thought was everything, she didn’t want to go any farther and it was just annoying. She’s not a good explorererer. Around 730, there was a pub crawl but it was 10 euro and I definitely did not have that kind of money. I decided not to go, also because it wasn’t something I could handle at the moment, Karolina didn’t want to go and I don’t think john really cared, he’s so lenient and easy going its great and funny. He simply just says yes, and doesn’t think about it more than that. I asked more people if they were going, like Leigh, and they wanted to but didn’t want to pay the 10 euro. I talked to her the next day and she said that she ended up going and just not paying. Now, I was jealous. That would’ve been perfecto. Karolina and john wanted to eat somewhere cheap. Karolina was thinking like pizza, but I feel like even in a restaurant compared to a carry out, it’s relatively the same price. Well, we ended up at Uncle Pete’s which was a tiny sit down, maybe Italian, restaurant. Karolina got a classic baguette and john a bowl of spaghetti. The place was really cute and a nice place to spend Halloween. It was about 8 and I passed some pub earlier and it was playing live music at 10 and I wanted to go see that. We went into a pub with a bunch of old men, so it quickly got too small. So onto the live music. Me not liking beer, I wanted to try the beer, Murphy’s that was made at the pub. The bar tender, a cute little dindly looking guy with a lot of energy, said I wouldn’t like it and let me try a different drink, rebel red, I got that with the last 3.10 euro I had left, it was really good. We sat there for about 2 hours watching a rugby math and talking. I got pretty tired pretty quick; I also got pretty tired of Karolina pretty quick. She started saying something, which is always and its loud and never stops, and I wanted say something small and chime in and she’s like no...Let me finish and I was like you’re ridiculous. It hurt my feelings because anything she says is the only thing that matters and nothing else. I let it slide but on the way home she did it to me so I did it to her, and I think it made things awkward but I was over it so fast. We got home around 1030 while everyone was still pub crawling, and I changed and put in headphones to try to fall asleep because I had a feeling that was not going to work out well, especially when everyone else came back. I ended up staying up till 12 because I as messaging Adam and Karolina wouldn’t shut the freak up. But it’s like if you have OCD and have to sleep and wake up at such a strict schedule, then go to sleep. And you’re not the only person in the room, just because you’re not sleeping doesn’t mean everyone is awake

2.16.2014
This morning we were allowed to sleep in until 1030 in the morning...is that what they call sleeping in? Well, I decided, instead of following Karolina, who probably was going to take pictures and walk around the normal city like a terrorist, I would make my own adventure and get to know the city on a run. But unfortunately, I passed the kitchen first. Breakfast was included and it was bread. I thought it’d be something like that but most of the people I was with said at the last hostel they cooked beans and eggs and bacon for them. Then I realized, I think we were a little scammed. Well, I hadn’t had bread as a meal in like 5 years, so I decided perhaps I try it. I felt so dumb after. It was kind of nice in the way that I really like the strawberry jam but I really didn’t feel like it made a dent in my stomach. I am kind of happy, because I will continue to not eat bread and this will make me feel better later with feeling bad now haha. Oh, there were the Belgium girls, Selene, one I already met, that together had like an entire loaf! It was like a joke, or a movie, but quite ridiculous! Well, because it barely affected me, I decided to continue with that determination to run. Last night I asked where I should go running and the guys at the front desk said there was some place about a 15 minute walk, a park. And I thought that’d be cute but I need something farther. I don’t know why but I went the wrong way, kind of. I guess there really isn’t any wrong way, but you’ll find out later. O, here I continued down the river to the harbor and where most of the transportation happened in cork. I passed the ford general motors Europe division. Ford was Irish. There was a lot I passed but it was a little industrial and I like more grass. So I had to run all the way back the same way but whatevaaaa. I ran into a woman with a collie and a husky, I missed husky Lilly a little bit, well mostly just doggies loving. I talked to her and asked where to go and she said the city, but that’d not that fun haha which made me feel better and then go to the park and up to university college cork. Just like the other guy recommended, so I ran back, then went up this hill near our hostel and looked out. It was so cool. This hill was huge and above almost the entire city. So when I got up there, I smiled and that’s when I reaized I can go abroad by myself and enjoy myself. All I have to remember is do stuff the Sher way, adventurous and daring. Not like anyone else. I looked down and noticed the beautiful city I would’ve never seen. I decided to run down and try to make it to where the people recommended or at least attempt. I only had 20 minutes and was told they would leave without us at 1030. But again, we are Sher's. People wait for us, we don’t wait for people. So I kept running and up a hill through some weird alleys and ultimately back to our hostel. I grabbed my purse and a jacket and at 1030 I was out but needed to get to the bus still. I ended up being 3 minutes late; according to Karolina...when we got on, I was so excited about my exploration. But then there was 1 more girl, Ellie we were waiting for. Ellie wasn’t picking up her phone and no one knew where she was. We gave her 10 extra minutes. So he started pulling away and as we did someone saw her and she was running and we kept going because he couldn’t stop on the narrow streets and I felt so bad because she kept chasing us every time we stopped and ya ta ta. He circled and came back and we got her...adventurous right? I loved it! But Karolina absolutely did not. "If I am here on time, she better be too. I don’t feel fucking bad at all". She was so pissed and didn’t give half an ass because she has OCD. Whatever, I like Ellie so I tried to be positive. So, as we kept going, I had, again my 5 seats in the back row, and Ellie came back by me thinking she wanted to join me and because she wasn’t an Indian or an Asian, why not? Nope, realized why she was back here with me. She needed to puke. Yup, there she went. Disgusting....there went 5 perfectly comfortable seats all to me. But I met these other girls from BU and they were all really freaking chill! And they were also all in a sorority so they were excited I was too. We bonded and they’re going to Italy the second week of break and missing St Paddys day eeeeeeee. Anyways, the girl I was sitting next to, Laura, very nice, also started feeling sick. I was getting lucky today. At least I didn’t care much. It was actually pretty funny how this all worked out. Anyways, our first place we stopped was Kinsley. This place was a cute little town on a harbor. There were some boats on sand because it seemed like there was not enough water running. I went to the tourist office and she said the only thing to do was go see he fort. So that’s exactly what I did. Karolina was OCDing hat we wouldn’t be back in time so decided not to go. Well, the day just got better because I still did. I went on this road that I don’t think anyone else did and just kept walking to find the fort, ruins. The houses here were so beautiful and each one was called something else. It was hard to capture through photographs but I was able to see the entire town where everyone went and did the norm, and then I saw a big fancy bridge, another island across, and the fort was huge, not to mention the sun and sky were just about perfect! The way everything was hitting watch other was just altogether perfect. I walked into people’s backyards and took some photos also. I couldn’t make it to the fort though because it was too far. I had to head back. I had 10 minutes to spare, so I went to buy food at a place called spar. It’s a huge chain of food stores. I bought some mushrooms and bananas and walked back with a huge smile on my face :) next stop, FOTA. This was the biggest outdoor zoo in Ireland. There was a big open field for zebras to roam and another for buffalo. This place was just really exciting. I’ve seen most of all the animals but it looked so much better here, there was a small little bear looking thing called the red panda I thought was really cute. We finished kind of early so Karolina, OCD, wanted to head back on the bus but I went on and got off again. Didn’t need to be on the bus any longer than necessary. I walked off and went to get some more hot water and roam around like usual. It was so nice out. Then, finally the stupid smelly (like barf) bus.
At this point, I was starting to get really cold but we had another stop. The Jameson distillery. I was really excited about this one. I learned that every drink of Jameson has to go through this distillery. We started off watching a video, which I think I fell asleep during. We went through each room, but most were kind of outside. I talked a lot to Ellie, the girl that threw up on the bus. She is such a sweet heart but can go hard. It was nice to get to know other people other than hanging with Karolina and John, the typical. Then, the last place we were chosen to be the certified Jameson taste testers. I and 7 other people were chosen. We sat down at a table, while everyone else got their free mixed drink of Jameson, and we were given 3 shots of Jameson: scotch, smoked whisky, and Irish whisky I think. And then, a mixed drink. These were so legit. I felt so official, especially after they brought out the certified preprint Jameson credentials. This is where I met Jen, who is friends with a girl in my sorority. She goes to BU and she is so nice. I don’t know why but she actually like contacts me and asks me to do things. It is kind of nice. Well, we took our shots, which were not the greatest, and then took the Jameson glasses, and then headed to the gift shop. I didn’t need the gift shop no mo because I got myself a girt fo free!
I was ready to peace out and go home. At this point, my feet had been wet all day and I was sitting in the front of the bus because I couldn’t handle the stench of the barf(is). I talked to Chels, and then got off the bus. At this point, I lost my headphones and don’t know why…I am still freaking out about this. I was ready to run to Dunnes Stores, get me some parsnips for dinner and go home. I was freezing and hungry. Ready to go home and not spend money and then go out. Instead, after telling Karolina and John about the top of the hill in the city and how it overlooked a beautiful view of the city during my run, they wanted to see it. Almost perfect timing because it was dusk. Then, we headed to Dunnes, which was closed. And then trying to find Tesco! Tesco is saving my butt here. It is like Jewel. I love Tesco. Cheap food and has all the essentials. We walked in and I really wanted beets and I don’t know why. The first thing Karolina saw was a baguette for 1 euro. Snatch. She was game. It was like 2 ft. long. Then she got a small package of ham and cheese. John did the same. This ended up being around 3 euros and was good for 2 meals for her haha. I got myself the beets and parsnips I wanted and carrots, because they were a euro. I think we did really well. I felt like my mouth was blue and I was ready to head back. So, we finally got back and all I had been saying was how much I wanted to shower. Well, I ate dinner, which took a lot longer than planned, but I loved it. I missed that food. It was absolutely perfect. John stayed with me and talked. He is so casual and such a nice guy. Goes with the flow. He was probably amazed at how much and what I ate. OMG such a good dinner. Then, we noticed I had like 20 minutes until we were supposed to meet up again to go out with the group. I still had to shower but ew who wants that. So, I ran into the shower. It was lukewarm, had only 2 of the 3 parts of the door, and you had to hit the knob to get the shower going and then it would only stay on for like 10 seconds, literally. Well, what are you going to do? Just shower and peace out if you can. So, I did that, got ready and off we went to Old Oak Pub in Cork. The ESN people taking us had no idea where it was but that was fine because Karolina and John did, but no one really listened to them either. From the outside, it looked a lot smaller but then after walking in, we found out they had like 5 rooms and even an upstairs! The night went on. I didn’t want to talk to just John and Karolina all night so I talked with the girls I met from Belgium (one of them, Selene, I ran with on Monday with running club and some other girls). They were all very nice and I had a good time getting to know all the others. Then, I wanted to get an Irish coffee but didn’t want to pay 5 euro for it so decided against it. But while I was waiting at the bar with the other girls, I met a girl from Indiana that goes to Purdue and she let me try hers, again, people here are so nice.
We went back and I still was there chilling out. We were able to go upstairs if we wanted and it was more dancing and like a club but no one was really going. Then, we met a French guy who was actually really funny and nice! Actually, I met the French guy and invited John over and then Karolina came. This guy was hilarious and really funny. One joke I remember, “What is the difference between a zit and a priest?” At least one of them waits until the kid turns 12 to squirt white stuff all over their face. I didn’t think it was that funny, but everyone else did. But ya, this guy was really funny. His name was Remi and the first French guy not a really annoying or mean person. Around 12 we started to head home because we were tired and nothing was really happening. John, Karolina and I went home and Karolina talked again for a while, but this time I didn’t have head phones to tune her out. Luckily, she didn’t really talk as much as last night, the hour and a half. But I did talk to Adam, like always, I like talking to him before bed. It is nice.

I love food! and rock climbing!

2.12.14
Wednesday. Yup, well, that class I thought I had on Monday that I missed and I thought I could go to class today was actually cancelled on Wednesday haha. My bad, the makeup is tomorrow (I didn’t end up going). I feel like when I go to class, he is a realer funny professor, and he mumbles to himself so really hilarious quotable things, but he reviews things that are of almost no importance. He stresses things that aren’t importance for the exam either which is annoying.
Anyways, I woke up to perhaps go running, but then I got up and if I remember right, it was raining a little. Actually, a little a LOT! It was a little nutso outside, but then it shaped up. I worked on some work, my Spanish project and then I had my next class, Spanish. This Spanish class reviews the port, Machado. It’s like a joke, he reads some poems and you write EVERYTHING he says down. Which isn’t that interesting but now I think the poet is interesting but it’s by his words, not mine? Anyways, I went to do some work at the Global Lounge to watch the Olympics, but it was closed because there was a seminar on study habits. Well, I got talked into staying, so I did but what a waste of time. But I don’t think that seminar would have gone ANYWHERE without me. I answered every question. No one talked except me. It was about how to pay attention and it was funny, because he was saying he could tell who was but I was doing my Differential equations homework the entire time to make my time useful.
I met with my Spanish professor to review my work for the essay we have to turn in. Surprisingly, my work was ok! PS I tried writing the essay on Sunday and wrote it for about 3 hours, you know your typical, the is a book written by this man and here shih life. I went to class the next day and that was exactly what he didn’t want. A joke. Well, I got an alright! Then, my professor said go find a Spaniard, hug them and become friends with them.
I came back to my room to get some stuff done, especially after my seminar teaching me how to focus. I was prepared, but then I started talking to Chelsea. That’s when my attention span goes way down haha. We start talking about things that are important, and traveling, and all of this is just so fun to talk about.
Off to my next class, this is also Spanish. The presentation that was supposed to be given Monday was given today because the people didn’t show up to present. Ummm can you do that? It was about big and little businesses. I tried participating because that’s my grade, but it’s pretty embarrassing because I don’t think I even make sense.
After, I met with my group. I started the entire presentation myself. Then, I walkway with Liam to the bus stop. It was freaking CRAZYYYYY outside! The wind and the rain and everything. But I was going to be home doing nothing in my room and I thought, why not just go into town and buy food or something, which I needed.
On the bus, I saw a man, Kevin, which was wearing a Triathlon jacket. I asked him if he did them and then we talked for like 30 minutes about his life and how he trains twice a day for the ironman! Loved it! He works at UCD and did his undergrad in electrical engineering and now his Post Doc in bioengineering. Oh, it was just great. Again, meeting Dubliners is so fun!
So, I got off the bus and immediately started finding cheap prices for food. I find that so much fun and don’t know why. I like to compare everywhere. I think I started at SUPERVALU, and then Penney’s (the really cheap clothing everything store I thought was so cool on Sunday, but found it was overrated), then to Jervis (an indoor mall that was closed – but then stole a banana because there was a smoothie stand with all fresh fruit and no one working but no one was there) and then went to LIDL and Dealz, and then (although planned to go to Tesco), finished at Aldi. I bought mostly everything there. I think it was my first time there. I don’t really support it because of mommy and daddy. Came home and made some food and then did some work for Spanish (again working hard after that seminar) and then went to bed by 12. That was great! I am trying to go to bed around then now.

2.13.14
This morning I was thinking to get up early to go running, but I quickly decided to try and get some sleep for my class at 10. So I got up for that, and asked the professor some questions, which again seems like professors don’t get that question and can’t believe when people ask for help. Anyways, I went on a run and it was a little windy but not too bad. Then, maybe insanity, but decided against that too….
Had lunch and then got more done for my Spanish project, but that didn’t happen because I worked on my scholarship. I also heard from my internship with the Abrasive engineering people! But I don’t know what to think of it because I don’t know what to do. And I haven’t heard back from Argonne. And then I also saw on LinkedIn that I heard back from the guy from Life Fitness! BTW this morning, before I knew any of this, I messaged mommy and told her I was nervous about what I am going to do over the summer haha
My class was with the professor that sags his pants without knowing. I walked in and saw him and even started laughing. I think this time we even got a little bit of his butt. He is such a joke. It’s hilarious! Everyone knows it too. You ask him a question, and he doesn’t answer it but goes on for 20 minutes about something else.
We continued with his project which takes us forever and is just annoying. This is a 3 hour class for designing. Then, I finally asked the TAs (who took the class before) if they actually look at our work…I mean this professor doesn’t even know how to put a belt on. And they told me that they don’t think he even looks at it. No idea. He said the funniest thing today, "I am going to the sun, but its OK because it will be at night time". Well, I had rock climbing to get too, so this was going to be put on the back burner. Unfortunately, I am going to Cork tomorrow, so I won’t be able to take the time to finish but I’ll do it somehow.
Off to rock climbing. I’m still sore. But I went with Ana, but I found that it’s kind of scary with her and I love going with Karolina better. Then I bouldered some and then took a break because my arms are still sore from 2 days ago. I skipped trampolining because it’s at the same time as all of my other clubs.

After I went to the gym and did a 30 minute workout. I felt like I was doing 2 a day’s today. I actually like splitting it up. Well, then I went home and finished that freaking presentation and it feels AMAZING! And now packing for cork and off to bed J GNight. And its only 1130…so I’ll watch gymnastics Worlds 2013.

Wednesday 12 February 2014

My not so interesting beginning of the week, but so interesting professor

2.10.2014
I tried to wake up, but you know, that was not about to happen. I missed my first class and then realized, wait we have this class rescheduled anyways so no big deal! Ah, it was great. So, I went to my next class, which was still relatively early. Because I was so tired and for some reason SO hungry, I was SO hungry, I decided I may not be able to run. Well, I started talking to this guy, John, who is big into running/triathlons. He also goes to Cuse but does more of his own thing when it comes to sticking with the Cuse Crew. It was nice to talk to him because we had a lot in common. Well, I decided to go to running club at 6 PM. Unfortunately, I ate like 2 hours before. But first, I bought tickets for Cork this weekend. I am nervous about going because I hate being on a bus, but Karolina convinced me to because its 85 euro for the entire weekend. I literally went back and forth about this like 20 times and asked EVERYONE for their opinion. Mind that, I only have 20 euro. Well, I put some money down and hopefully the debit card comes by then. Anyways, made my way to running club with John. We started running and the first group really separated from us because apparently we are “slow”. I stayed with a girl from Ireland, Maeve, and another girl from Belgium, Salean (don’t know spelling). We ran for about an hour and it was really fun. She was short and stout, with a handle but doesn’t shout. Then, I really had to poop. Luckily, I always have toilet paper with me for when my nose runs. Yup, this was a good one. We kept running and then I headed home to finish some work. And of course, still should’ve gone to sleep earlier, but for some reason, it takes me so long to go to bed. Either I am talking to Adam or I just find something else to do on the computer, Facebook, or perhaps blogging (but this not so much).

2.11.2014

This morning I had class again. Still so hard to get up but it was so nice out! I went to class and I have my main professor and then we have TAs and then we have another professor to teach us about other projects. This professor, the one I always talk about that is so strange and no one can figure him out, was wearing jeans that sagged with green boxers. Then, I found out that his belt was put on so the buckle was almost facing the back. So strange! How does it get there?! It was a joke. I Snapchatted EVERYONE about this haha.

Then, I came home and went on a short run, ate some lunch and headed to class at the wrong time. I still am going a little nutso with figuring out what I want to do with my life, especially these trips. Also, when Chelsea goes crazy, my travel agent, it doesn’t help. Well, I sat and watched some Olympics for an hour, bought the mystery tour ticket through ESN (which I didn’t have to pay for because they also owed me money, actually they paid me 1 euro) so I could finally do something J and then I went to class with the cute professor but I HATE his teaching! Hate it! I asked a billion questions compared to the rest of the class, probably not normal here at Ireland. Then I went to his office afterwards. Then, I had to run out because he talks some weird mumbles, worse than the Shers. Well, at this point I was trying to run home because I wanted to book Berlin and this was the only time I could do it and the only time Chelsea was relatively, sane and free. But it was 440 and I was going climbing at 5. So, I just left and went climbing with Karolina. It was awesome! My arms were so tired. And I met a lot of people. After, I had about an hour, and so I thought until Trampolining/Scuba. I worked on my Spanish presentation. Then, at 8 when I was SUPER tired, thought to go get my bathing suit on but had no energy. So, I walked out on deck and then asked where they were and found that they don’t start till 9! What. OK. So I just went home. On the way home, I realized that I could’ve just gone to trampolining but TOTALLY forgot. When I got home I had a list of things to do but totally forgot because I was going absolutely INSANE about this Berlin trip. It wasn’t so much booking it but if I should buy bags, if I should by insurance…blah blah blah! Also, I never booked a flight back. Which, I am fine with, but I don’t know what my plans are for second week. I would be kind of fine with just going back for Paddy’s day. But then I found out the twins might be going to Florence and I could totally meet them there! HAHAH weird how things like that work. But still looking into that. I also should start signing up for my other trips. I am looking into them now. About to go to bed and then stupid Adam messages me. Ugh, again, sleeping later than I wanted doing absolutely nothing. Oh, and class is cancelled tomorrow HAH

Monday 10 February 2014

The Glendalough Weekend. The trip of friendship :D

2.7.2014   yesterday, Friday. This time, even though I don’t sleep and had a 10 am, didn’t even try to get up early to do anything. I gave up on that after the first attempt. After my class, which feels very useless, but won’t be once the exam comes around, I met with my professor he’s a really chill guy and a red head. I thought his exams and his teaching would be the same but the class just seems more and more not worth going because he posts all of the notes and besides some jokes, he follows them exactly. I went to his office to go over the 3 homework problems he told us we could too, they were optional. I tried it and didn’t get any. I showed him and he like didn’t even see that I did it even though; I had all the work done in my notebook on the same page. He told me this is how you should do it and was telling me where I should look and what to do to learn it but didn’t show me HOW to do it...I could’ve used that time to just teach myself then. Then, he started explaining to me his life and stuff which I love because I love talking to Irish people and getting to know them. But yes, I felt like crying after meeting with him and was getting anxiety about how I was going to learn this all in time for the exam. And what I needed to know because it seemed, from the weird noises he made, that I sounded like a dumbass and he couldn’t figure out how I didn’t know this "common sense". Well, left there because he had a coffee date and thorn went to get my 60 dollar package :) turns out I didn’t really need any of the stuff sent except the shirts mommy sent me so I felt really bad about that. And, all the things I asked for, I don’t think the majority was in there ha-ha but omg loved the dehydrated bananas love them! But again, feel bad it was 60 bucks, I mean I feel bad buying 3 buck coffees, which I should, but this is like a waste. Womp womp.
I had some lunch and wanted to go to the city prepare for the weekend food wise. This time, without a bike.

I’m continuing this on Sunday and I am writing about Friday. Don’t hurt me but I am a little behind. But ya, so I went into town and it was nice to be able to just walk around and for some reason, I felt like I could find some things to do. I first wanted to go get a scone from KilKenny, which I have now made my thing every time I come into town on Sundays and can’t think of anything else to do, but I stopped at a shop. It was a wool shop, and I pass it every time and every time, I go in. I don’t know why. Maybe it is because I love trying to figure out what I should bring home that can really tell people what Ireland is known for. I went in and I started talking to a girl that works there. She told me so much! And that she went to Trinity College because that is where her dad worked and all this stuff. She was so easy to talk to. I also noticed that it is not that big of a thing to actually take school seriously. For her, the last 2 years actually counted towards her GPA, which is actually unusual for Ireland, it is usually just the last year. To me, both of those concepts are unusual. So she asked me how I like it and where I have gone and she told me exactly where to go and eat and everything, because I seem to be stuck on these 2 streets, St Stephan’s Green and Graton Street. Time to explore! I found myself at the first place she told me to go and along the way; I saw some cute shoe stores (I really want some half sized boots) and then passed Cornucopia. Every time I ask an Irish person where to eat, and then say I am vegetarian, they tell me to go there but I have never realized that I didn’t know where it was. They made it seem so obvious. So, I finally found it! However, still not so much my style. All the food was vegan, but I wasn’t so into it because it was prepared or already made and I am not a huge fan of that. It was still cute. Then I continued to the market Arcade. Don’t be fooled, it’s not an arcade but it is kind of like a flea market, but indoors. There was a froyo place there but it only had 4 flavors and I really didn’t like it. It tasted like heavy cream or something. It was called, Yogism. Funny name, no? Well, I continued and still frolicked through the streets to random shops. I also found that there are A LOT of baby shops. This could also be because I search for them because I want to find something for Quinny. Honestly, I think at that point I was reread to go back, unpack some stuff, get some food and then get ready to go to the bowling scuba/snorkeling outing. Once I got home, I was so hungry. Also, all I wanted to do was sit in my room because it was raining. I knew I should’ve gone to the bowling party, but I didn’t know anyone really going and I had no idea how to get there. I feel like I need someone to push me or know someone on campus to go with me. I honestly don’t think I missed anything by not going though, because it seemed like maybe only 10 people showed up, if that. I didn’t see but the event only showed like that many people and I was one of them. I also was getting up early the next morning to go to Glendalough. Before I went to bed, I got to talk to Adam and he has been really nice lately. Making me miss him. It’s weird because I know we talk every day, but every day here doesn’t seem like 1 day, it seems like 3. So when I don’t talk to him, it seems like a LONG time. Anyways, I love it here as always.

Seaerday. You ready for this? I woke up and went with my roommate to the Glendalough trip. I was kind of confused because I was almost positive it said to be at the hotel (not on campus) at 9 but she said that I we had to be there at 845. It seemed like she was kind of frustrated but I was still on time, for thinking that it was at 9. Anyways, we started walking and I, being my happy self, kept talking and she was not having it. She said, “Sorry for not talking, it’s just hard for me at night and in the mornings. I just don’t talk much”. She’s having boyfriend troubles. I felt bad, but honestly, I think this is the best time, because you can be occupied and what not. And it was also the first time I felt like I was bonding with one of my roommates without one of them throwing up.
I was nervous about this trip because all of Cuse friends went to London and I had no one to go with except my roommate I didn’t know that well and was not so interested in. Once I got there, I saw Karolina, and while I was waving at her, some girl like intercepted the wave and thought I was waving at her. Honestly, she looked familiar but had no idea who it was. So I felt bad and walked up to her. We started talking and then I remembered it was the girl I met at Merry Ploughboy that was from Chicago. We started talking and Karolina joined, and honestly, from that point on, me, Karolina and Kathleen (now that I found out her name) didn’t stop talking. It was absolutely amazing! I found out that Kathleen likes to run and she is doing a half marathon during reading week in Madrid! It works out PERFECTLY with my schedule that Chelsea made me, and maybe Chelsea can even come because that is also the only place Nicki will go. I was actually freaking out because trips were working out so well. And to be frank, Kathleen was the best friend I always wanted at Cuse, someone that I could go home to Chicago with and have something in common with from school. To be able to talk about experiences like this. I just couldn’t believe it.
We got off at the first place. It was raining and as we entered this mountain, there was a very welcoming puddle. We started hiking up the mountain in rain, my shoes were soaking and it was very windy. But I wasn’t going to stop because that meant, that the trip would just no the worth it. I continued until I reached a point on the mountain that I thought I might blow away and started feeling claustrophobic. I also thought even my tablet was going to fly away and I was not going to have that. There was more to go, but nope, stood my ground. Then I headed back down. I took so many pictures of the open green landscape. It is exactly as you would think with the green squares of land and stuffs. The wind was moving the tablet so much that I took so many pictures and just hoped they would all come out. We got back on the bus, I think 45 minutes early and everyone was back on quick, I think just because of the weather. We headed to Glendalough. I was still wet and cold, so the first thing we did was to go get some coffee and tea. It was what I needed to be ready for this hike else I didn’t think I would make it. We started off at a cemetery and then kept walking along a stream and then to a lake and then continuing to huge trees! It was all so beautiful, but I think I have seen prettier scenery, but this was all so different. So green and refreshing. Again, Karolina, Kathleen and I kept talking the entire time and they didn’t judge me and I found that they both talk just as much as me and Karolina doesn’t care what other people think and I just love it! I don’t care what other people think and I love finding people that have the same feelings, they’re blunt and just tell it like it is. I really respect that. I think it makes things more difficult if someone does something to be nice to the other when they are just going to have a shitty time by thinking they are being a better friend, when in the end, everyone is going to have a shitty time because the one person in having a bad time so that the other one is happy, but the happy one will be sad because the other one is having a shitty time. Whatever, makes sense in my head. Well, with Karolina’s OCD, we got back to the bus about 10 minutes early, which is not the Sher way, but that’s alright. We did a lot of walking. Then, we waiting about 45 minutes, when I found out that we were waiting for another group of people that weren’t back yet. I HATE waiting for people. I don’t mind if they wait for me, but I don’t like waiting for others. Especially this long. Well, I found out later, one of them were my roommates, that’s awkward, but dude….Anyways, one of the buses left without them so that we could stay on track with time. We stopped about 25 minutes away from campus at a little town, and I mean little. It had like 0 shops. Here, we ate (I didn’t eat because it was like chicken or beef stew with rice or curry….vegetarian) while watching the Rugby game and then walked around to look at the little weird shops. Nothing too interesting except an Irish looking London payphone. We had nothing really to do. I bought some bananas cause I was hungry had like 3 and we got back to the campus by 530 PM. That is actually insane! I thought we would be back a little later but I was really surprised we made it back so fast. On the way back, this girl Ellie, a cheerleader from Villanova, overheard me talking about trampolining and then we all started talking. Small world, my roommate hung out with her that night and she goes to school with one of Karolina’s friends. Well, we talked to her too and she was also mad chill. I went back, made me some dinner and watched Silver Linings Playbook. So good! Then I hung out with Karolina while she looked up flight information and I tried doing homework and Skyped mommy. I did actually get some work done but I kind of wish we actually did something. It was Kathleen’s 21st birthday too! So I thought she might do something but it turned out she just fell asleep or something. Also, I asked my roommate if she wanted to do something with Ellie and to text me, but she never did but she did go out with her without me. Wahhh. When I got home Karolina did text me and thanked me for hanging with her while she did nothing. It was so cute. It was funny because I kept telling her what a great time I had today and how excited I was that I found someone I could enjoy time with and she felt the same way. Oh so happy. She is so cute! So Polish and so OCD but that could be a good thing J

Talked to Adam before bed again. He makes me not able to sleep when he says cute things awwww. Ew. Feelings gross. I had to get up early for snorkeling in 7 hours. Goodnight!

2.9.2014
This morning tis the day to go snorkeling! Since I didn’t go out last night, I was ready to wake up early this morning and go for a run before I had to leave for snorkeling t 11. This was the first time I went running on the weekend since, just about the summer….which I actually didn’t go over the summer so last academic year. I felt great that I could change my ways.
When I came back, I started packing my bag for scuba. I got my fins, weight belt, wet suit and wet suit leotard. Everything, then I looked at my phone and found that the trip was cancelled due to bad weather. When I read that, I was so confused because it was typical Ireland weather, actually better! The sun was out and it was kind of calming. It turns out though, the bay was not safe to swim in because the current was so strong and apparently, it was bad where we were going to go. I was bummed because all of my friends went to London and I was going to have a great weekend, but now it changed. But at least I got a run in?
When I got back, I had lunch and talked to Karolina and Kathleen and asked if they wanted to go into town and do nothing. I was down. Kathleen was already there and I was going to meet her on O’Connell street. I didn’t want to wait for Karolina so I asked her to meet us but she never did. I found Kathleen at Penney’s. This place was like forever 21 but better because it had everything for sooooo cheap! I loved it! That’s where I found some feetsies; onesies. Life was good. But Kathleen seemed to kind of be in a rush and since I really had nowhere to be and didn’t care where to go, we left, but I really wanted to leave and get into town. We left the area, but I guess it was where everyone calls the center of Dublin and I really didn’t look too much into this place till now and now I know I have more to explore! YES!!
We kept walking around with no place to really go, and walked into small little local cute stores. Then, we got some food for home, and then wanted to watch the Rugby match. We initially went to Sonnets, the place the Cuse people went for the super bowl. Too packed and claustrophobic according to Kathleen so we left and went to Porter House. I really liked this place. Kathleen ordered a beer. I found out they brew all of their own beer, which seemed pretty wild to me. My mind was blown. Then, she wanted to leave. I was ready to keep going if I wanted, but once we got back she wanted to take a nap. It seems like she is kind of into doing her own thing and I was kind of confused but whatever.
I went home and made some food. I made the soup, actually just boiled some celery which I really liked and actually finished it all already! And then some dinner. After, I started working on work I needed to get done. I started on my essay for Spanish. I thought, since all we do is straight write down everything he says in class maybe that would help. All I would have to do is write exactly what he said. So, I started for a couple hours and hoped I was doing the right thing. Once I got into class on Monday, I found out all of the work I did was EXACTLY what he didn’t want! That was a joke. It was going to have to push me to do something I wasn’t used to. I was ready and now intrigued. Well, at 10 PM Adam and I finally got to Skype! We talked for like an hour and a half. I also realized in this time that I think I might be pretty dumb. I felt stupid. We were talking about the movie Gravity and I really didn’t like it because I couldn’t believe it because people don’t come back from space alive. Turns out, they do. I don’t know I guess I am not very educated about this topic. Adam couldn’t tell if I was kidding or not, I just left him with that and continued. Well, I was ready for bed but still needed to write my Blog stuff and also I kept talking to Adam through messaging. Didn’t get to bed until 1 so I really didn’t want to go to class at 9. Decided against that. And then also realized that he is having a review of that class because a lot of people will be missing for some trip. I am just going to go there.

Well, no sleep and talking to Adam, I was ready to start the week, which doesn’t feel like a week, just a continuous weekend.
